(Daily reading: Genesis 1-3) In my comments on our readings, I will quote occasionally from one of my books. “God gave more detailed attention to His creation of humans than He did to anything else. In other cases of creation, He spoke them into existence. But in Adam’s case, God personally ‘breathed into his nostrils the breath of life’ (Gen. 2:7). Humans are not only a body; they are also soul and spirit. God made us in such a way that He could communicate with us. He wants us to be able to respond to Him as we grow in our knowledge and understanding of Him. He wants us to be able to return His love. Different from an animal, we are soul and spirit; we can hear God, and we can speak to God. We can have a relationship with God!”
