Daily Bible Reading – January 03, 2021

(Daily reading: Genesis 8-11) Leaving the ark, Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices to the Lord (Gen. 8:20). God established a covenant with Noah and his sons. He blessed them, and referring to all the animals, the birds and the fish, He said: “They are given into your hand” (Gen. 9:2). There is order in God’s creation, and He began again with Noah to fulfil his plans for mankind. He put a rainbow in the sky as a remembrance of His eternal covenant with every living creature on the earth. This reminds us that God’s purposes for us do not falter nor do they fail. He will faithfully execute all that He has promised. Abram was born when Noah was 890 years old. They were contemporaries for sixty years before Noah died. Did Noah have the opportunity to be an inspiration to Abram? We do not know, but we do know that there is continuity in God’s plans, and that we all have a purpose to fulfill in those plans! “For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Mal. 3:6).
