Daily Bible Reading – March 23, 2021

Mar 23 (Daily reading: Joshua 1-4) We find many life principles in Joshua. In Christ, we have occupied the land, we have life “more abundantly” (Jn. 10:10). Now, in Christ, “we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us” (Rom. 8:37). God told Joshua, “Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (1:9). Look at some principles on how you can live victoriously in the land.

(1st) Know that God has given you the victory, as Rahab told the spies, “I know that the LORD has given you the land” (2:9). They crossed the Jordan after the third day (3:2). Never forget the principle of the third day—the resurrection of Jesus Christ assures you of victory every single day!

(2nd) Follow God only. They were told to follow the ark, which symbolized God’s presence, at a certain distance (3:3). This was to make sure they did not get ahead of God’s leading.

(3rd) It was important to allow God to lead, because, as Moses reminded them, “You have never been this way before” (3:4). You can say every new day that God gives you: “I have never been here before, but God has, and He knows exactly what is ahead!”

(4th) They had to operate on faith; the waters of the Jordan did not divide until the priests put their feet into the water. God’s victories are activated when you step out on faith!

(5th) One person from each tribe was to take a stone from the Jordan as “a memorial to the people of Israel forever” (4:7). You must always remember that “The hand of the LORD is mighty and extraordinarily powerful, so that you will fear the LORD your God [and obey and worship Him with profound awe and reverence] forever” (4:24, Amplified Bible).
