Discussion Questions – July 20

1) Give examples of positive aspects of Islam. What would benefit Christians to practice? Could we benefit from borrowing rituals or principles of Islam?

2) How does viewing Islam as an identity, rather than just a belief system, change the way we approach conversations with Muslims? What parallels can we draw with how Christianity shapes our own identity?

3) What challenges or misunderstandings might arise when Christians and Muslims use the same words—like “God,” “scripture,” or “prayer”—but mean very different things? How can we ensure clarity and mutual respect in those conversations?

4) Does the analogy of a Christianized America help us empathize with a Muslim’s cultural and religious experience? Can you think of any personal experiences where you’ve felt misunderstood because of your faith or background?

5) What role should love and relationship-building play in evangelism, especially across religious boundaries? Why might truth without relationship fail to impact someone deeply rooted in another faith?

6) After learning about the structure and content of the Quran, what stands out to you most compared to the Bible? How might those differences affect the way Muslims read and understand scripture?
