Adult Questions:
1) In what ways do we care more about appearances or reputation than surrendering our hearts to God?
2) The Jewish leaders focused on rules instead of the miracle. How does that legalism show up in churches today? What’s the difference between honoring God’s commands and idolizing religious rules?
3) When has God asked you to get up and walk before you knew why? What are some ways people today resist being healed emotionally, spiritually, or relationally?
4) What does this passage reveal about God’s priorities? Is it mercy or ritual, relationship or regulation?
Two take home personal questions or challenges for you to reflect on this week:
1) What brokenness or sin might Jesus be asking you to surrender so you can be made whole?
2) Jesus asked, “Do you want to be healed?”. How will you answer that question today?

2) What kind of people were waiting by the pool at Bethesda and why do you think Jesus went there?
3) When Jesus asked the man, “Do you want to be healed?”, what do you think He meant?
4) What’s something hard that God might be asking you to trust Him with? Do you think the man had to trust Jesus to try to stand up?
5) Why were the religious leaders mad when the man was healed? Is the Sabbath supposed to be a day of rest or a bunch of rules?
6) Do you think Jesus cared more about rules or about helping people?
7) How do we know Jesus was more than just a good teacher and that He was really God?
8) If Jesus asked you, “Do you want to be healed?”, what would you say?
